The ergonomic cylindrical design makes the shift knob easy/comfortable to grip especially during extreme driving conditions. It's also much easier to "push" into gear (e.g. 2nd to 3rd and/or 4th to 5th) when compared to spherical type shift knobs.
These shift knobs are also sized for a comfortable fit even when using racing gloves. The Tomei Duracon Type-S shift knob is 70mm tall, and the SS is 60mm tall, they are made out of Duracon which retains less heat and is non-reflective, making this the perfect shift knob for hot climates.
